FEDEMAC would like to inform its Members on the latest developments concerning the proposal for a law prohibiting drivers from spending the regular weekly rest in the cabin of the truck in Germany.

On the 31st of March 2017, the second chamber of the German Parliament (Bundesrat) confirmed this legislative action. However, there is no fixed date as to when the law will enter into force.

FEDEMAC points out that the current draft proposal prohibits the regular weekly rest (45 hours) in the cabin of the truck or in unsuitable accommodation. In the case of infringement a fine will be imposed on both the driver and the haulier.

We will keep monitoring the situation and will inform our Members as soon as new information is available.
